JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Job Title:  HS Substitute Teacher

 

Job Title Code:  2148

Number of Days Worked:  on call, as needed

Department:  Sarpy County Head Start

FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt

Immediate Supervisor:  Classroom Teacher/Assistant Coordinator SCHS

 

 

Staff Supervised: none

  

Essential Requirements: 

  1. No history of child abuse or negligence.
  2. A High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
  3. A current Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential (or comparable credential) with training or equivalent coursework in early childhood development.
  4. Head Start or Early Head Start experience preferred but not required.
  5. This position is eligible for VEOA Veteran’s Preference.
  6. Successfully pass required background checks.
  7. Regular and dependable in person attendance is required.

Essential Responsibilities: 

  1. Understand and comply with the ESU #3 Board of Education Personnel Policies and Employee Handbook.
  2. Ensure compliance with grant requirements, Program Performance Standards, Nebraska Department of Education Rule 11, and Head Start policies and procedures.
  3. Follow directions (written and oral) in an efficient manner.
  4. Utilize active supervision guidelines to ensure that all necessary and reasonable precautions are taken to protect children and monitor the learning environment for health and safety.
  5. Participate in health and nutrition activities to include family style meals.
  6. Support the learning environment and assist with various activities in the classroom as directed by the Head Start/Early Head Start staff.
  7. Support children in problem solving and resolving conflicts under the supervision and direction of the Head Start/Early Head Start staff.
  8. Maintain positive working relationships with SCHS co-workers, specialists and supervisors.
  9. Maintain confidentiality regarding co-workers, agency, as well as family and child information.
  10. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
